About the Ars SACRA festival in Sibiu
Since 2007, every year in the third week of September, the Ars SACRA Festival has been held in conjunction with the Cultural Heritage Days and the Open Churches Day.
The initiative, which started in Budapest, has become nationwide and is now trying to promote and strengthen true values—the need for beauty, goodness, and truth—in an ever-wider circle across borders.
The aim of the festival is to bring to the surface the Jewish-Christian roots of European culture and the sacredness that lies deep within it, in almost every branch of art, promoting the elevation of the soul and spiritual unity. The Ars SACRA Festival takes place every year in the third week of September, in conjunction with Cultural Heritage Days, offering true, eternal values free of charge.
Between September 13 and 21, six historic parishes in Sibiu, with the support of the local government and Hungarian institutions, will be involved in an event showcasing sacred art.
The motto of the festival in 2025 is: “Pilgrims of Hope” – Jubilee Year
