About the Ars SACRA Festival in Sibiu
Held annually during the third week of September since 2007, the Ars SACRA Festival coincides with the Cultural Heritage Days and the Open Churches Day. What started as a Budapest initiative is now a cross-border, nationwide event. It aims to promote true values on a grand scale: beauty, goodness, and truth.
The festival aims to bring to light the Judeo-Christian roots of European culture and the sacredness lying at its very heart, across almost every branch of the arts, thereby fostering the elevation of the soul and spiritual unity. The Ars SACRA Festival takes place in the third week of September each year, in conjunction with Cultural Heritage Days, offering true, timeless values free of charge.
Between 12 and 20 September 2026, six historic parishes in Sibiu, with the support of the local council and institutions in Hungary, will be involved in this event showcasing sacred art.
The festival’s motto for 2026 is: “I will give you a future and hope” (Jer 29:11)
