Sacred Walk in Sibiu – guide: Dr. Răzvan C. Pop

In the framework of this year’s programme, 4 (four) sacral walks will be organised in four different languages: Romanian, German, Hungarian and English. The tours will take place on Saturday and Sunday, 14 and 15 September, at the same time, starting at 16:00. The tours will be guided by historian Răzvan Pop in Romanian and English and by certified guides Mihai Hașegan in German and Enikő Balázs in Hungarian.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is required in advance by filling in the Google Forms form.

Historian Răzvan Codruț Pop is born in Sibiu, studied in Sibiu and lives in this city since forever. After finishing high school at the National College ”Octavian Goga”, the philology department attended the History Faculty of ”Lucian Blaga” University, of course from Sibiu. He graduated in history after which he deepened his knowledge, both his master’s degree and his doctoral thesis dissected the same subject: medieval history, history of cities.

His professional career includes important positions within NGOs, such as being a founding member and president of the association for the beautification of the city of Sibiu, as well as administrative and political positions. He was the director of the Culture Department of Sibiu County, he was an adviser in the Ministry of Culture, and politically he held the position of local councilor and Deputy Mayor of Sibiu. After leading the Romanian Copyright Office as General Manager, Răzvan Pop successfully ran and is currently the manager of the ASTRA County Library in Sibiu.

He is the author and co-author of over 20 publications, mostly in the historical field. He participated in over 50 national and international conferences, communication sessions, scholarships where he gave lectures and presentations.

Studies, professional experience and passion for this city are those ”ingredients” that recommend Dr. Razvan C. Pop to be one of the most competent and trained historical-touristic guides in Sibiu. Its guides are fascinating, full of important information, but also unique.

One of the most recent and watched Siberian history podcasts is moderated by Razvan Pop, and the more than 15 editions with interviews and discussions on historical and social topics have almost 50,000 views.

The first edition of the ARS SACRA Festival in Sibiu has the great honor to benefit from the partnership of the famous historian Razvan C. POP, from Sibiu who will present the Sacred Walk in Sibiu on September 16, 2023. This day is also symbolically chosen, being during the European Days of UNESCO Heritage.

The Sacred Walk in Sibiu will last approx. 3 hours and will include the following places of worship:
